About Olivier Dondeyne

Individual Online Therapy for Expats

Do you sometimes feel lost, emotionally overwhelmed, or caught in patterns that don’t serve you while adjusting to a life in a new country?

As an expat, you may face challenges that are not always visible for others, from cultural differences and homesickness to identity questions and changes in family or romantic relationships. Therapy can offer a space to better understand these experiences and support you in building a more meaningful and authentic life abroad.

I offer online psychotherapy in English and Dutch, specialized to the needs of internationals and expats. I work with individuals who are experiencing:

  • Stress and work-related pressure

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Expat-specific life challenges (such as but not limited to identity, belonging, cultural adaptation, and loneliness)

  • Doubts about life choices and existential questions

What you can gain from therapy

Therapy is a space where we explore your experiences with curiosity and care. Together, we work toward:

  • Greater self-awareness and understanding of your patterns

  • Tools to regulate emotions and manage stress

  • Healthier ways of relating to yourself and others

  • Increased resilience and sense of direction in expat life

  • A stronger sense of identity and belonging as an expat

About me

I’m Olivier, a Clinical and Organizational Psychologist originally from Antwerp, Belgium, now based in Copenhagen. After completing my degree in Organizational Psychology in 2019, I worked in Danish software companies for several years. During that time however, I felt a strong pull toward more meaningful, people-centered work, which led me to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology.

As an expat myself, I understand what it means to build a life in a new country. Moving abroad can affect your sense of identity, your relationship(s), and your connection to home in ways that are not always visible to others not going through the process themselves. At the same time, I believe that this experience can be a starting point for meaningful growth, and lead to more authentic life choices, deeper relationships, and a stronger sense of self-appreciation.

I have worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, and personality-related challenges. My experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds has shown me the importance of providing culturally sensitive and inclusive care. In addition to my clinical training, my background in HR and customer-facing roles in Danish companies gives me an understanding of the professional and emotional challenges many internationals face in the workplace.

My approach: what to expect

Starting therapy can feel like a big and sometimes intimidating decision, especially when it involves personal and vulnerable aspects of your life. I know it takes courage to seek help. I approach this initial step with care and respect, and as the beginning of a meaningful process.

In our first session, we will explore what made you reach out, what you need support with, and what you hope to gain from therapy. Together, we will begin to define a direction that feels meaningful to you.

I aim to create a space where you feel understood and safe, while also helping you look at your experiences from a new perspective. Rather than focusing on what is “wrong”, we will work together to better understand your patterns, build on your strengths, and explore ways to create more resilience and inner peace.

I highly value transparency in therapy and strive to create a collaborative and equal relationship where you feel well-informed and actively engaged. I work in a culturally sensitive way, with respect for your personal, cultural, or religious background and sexual orientation.
